At the Meadows Festival 2019, we had just over 170 stalls representing a huge number of our amazing community. We have businesses from the local Meadows and Edinburgh area, and others who make it their business to tour similar market events, as well as individuals who take a “car boot sale” stall to clear the garage. We also have amateur artists next to political campaigners, as well as charities and community groups from both the local area and further afield.

Our food stalls include burger stalls and vegan, German sausages, high quality Scottish seafood, and a fusion of African and Asian menus - in short, if you are hungry, the Edinburgh Meadows is the place to be on the first weekend in June!

We are sorry that you can’t come and see us this year but we hope that you are staying healthy at home. We hope that this Virtual Meadows Festival will provide you a bit of light entertainment and a chance to share your #meadowsfestmemories

For now, we can say that the stalls are open :) Here follows some links to our amazing stalls that bring so much to our event:

Tattoo my Science

Wellcome Centre for Cell Biology, The University of Edinburgh

We would love to see your science tattoos be them transfer, henna or real ink, share them with us using #tattoomyscience. We are also looking for new designs for our temporary tattoo range so get creative and share your ideas with us on our Instagram or twitter. You never know, your design might be on offer at next year’s Meadows Festival! Make sure to give us a follow for some exciting upcoming art/biology projects ideas you can try at home!

“Wonderful, informative – great for adults and kids alike. Well done! A ‘speed-date’ with a scientist! Was able to learn something new & meet a fellow science nerd! I would like research to be more public so everyone can make their own idea and interpretation of the new discoveries. This will reduce fake news.” - Attendee, 2019

“I loved being part of the Meadows Festival last year! It was such a lively place to be with great activities! Tattoo my science was a diligent experience, it was great to see that our science tattoos were so popular with the adults and teenagers attending the festival!” - Dr. Ioanna Leontiou, Leverhulme Trust funded post-doc, The University of Edinburgh

On the Roll

Our mobile grill stands ‘On The Roll’ sell freshly grilled German sausages in the city centre of Edinburgh and St Andrews. Our sausages are imported from Münsterland, Germany, and are complemented with a spicy homemade sauce, Sauerkraut, fried onions and freshly baked rolls.

The sausages build the main ingredient to our concept of delivering a traditional German take away dish. We offer a variety of the most commonly grilled sausages available in German city centres. These include the traditional Bratwurst, the Krakauer and the famous Currywurst.

Launching a new product at end of June, including hampers of German produce (keep an eye on Meadows Festival facebook for a prize draw when products are available)

Edinburgh Skeptics

The Edinburgh Skeptics Society was founded in 2009 to promote science, reason and critical thinking in Edinburgh and beyond.

We are very loosely part of a world-wide community which takes a science- and evidence-based approach to a variety of issues. You can find locally established Skeptics in the Pub groups putting on talks and events all over the world, and there are many Skeptical podcasts and even more Skeptical bloggers and people on twitter.

Skepticism is not an organised movement (the collective noun should probably be “an argument of Skeptics”) but groups do keep in touch and do sometimes work together, and this collaboration is made much easier by the internet.

Cairn o’ Mohr Winery

Our fruit wines are all made in the traditional and proper way of fermentation followed by at least a year of maturation. This gives our wines real vinosity and smooth well developed flavours.

We started with our core range of five types; Strawberry, Raspberry, Bramble, Elderberry and Oak Leaf, then added the Sparkling Oak & Elder for our own wedding followed by the Sparkling Strawberry for someone else’s wedding.

Various local farmers phoning us up to find a home for spare fruit prompted the introduction of limited editions blends such as; Clever Currant, Cheery Currant, and Shrubbery

Seasonal urges drove us to produce a Raspberry/Strawberry blend, the Berry Up, for the Summer, and in the winter the Mulled Elderberry and Berry Christmas.

We also make the odd traditional wine such as Rhubarb and every now and again we’ll create an ‘Experimental’ just to keep things interesting at our end y’ken. We’re still home winemakers at heart.
